SCANNER 1997 and STORMWITCH 1987 DVD
This DVD has two rare shows on it featuring two of my favorite German bands. It has a menu, where you can select either show, as well as chapter points within each show you can move to.
The warmup show for this DVD is an excellent recording of SCANNER, 1997-03-10 in Verviers, Belgium supporting their killer Ball of the Damned album. Vocalist Leszek Szpigiel (aka Haridon Lee) is in fine form and the band sounds great as well. The sound quality and video are excellent - the cameraman even knows to zoom in on the guitar solos and other interesting parts, so you get to see Axel A.J. Julius leadwork via fretcam. Same goes for additional guitarist Stefan Nicolai.
The main event here is a tremendous show from STORMWITCH - live in Tenzlingen, 1987, supporting their Beauty and the Beast album. The band is simply firing on all cylinders here and it is a masterful performance. The video quality is also quite good, although it is rather dark in places. The audio is mostly very good too - a bit distorted here and there, but overall excellent - what can you say - a recording of STORMWITCH in the 80s - can't go wrong here! Terrific stuff. I love this performance.
