The "Weinberg Center" was a small 1200 seat venue in Frederick, MD, which is about an hour west of Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. I lived there from 1974-1977, before moving to Baltimore. I was still dating a chick back in Frederick, and we went to this show. It sold out in a heartbeat. The tickets were $7.50/$6.50, and I can't imagine the bands would have played this small venue for such a small gross (couldn't have been more than $9,000), so I imagine the radio station that sponsored the show (Z104) must have kicked in some bucks. The venue boasted "perfect acoustics", but maybe that was for chamber music instead of a metal concert. In reality, the sound sucked. For some unknown reason, they had placed the mixing board over the backs of quite a few seats maybe ten rows back from the stage, forcing those ticket holders to sit on folding chairs in the aisle. I bet that went over well, especially if you had come with a date or friends. Being that close to the stage must have deafened the sound crew, as their efforts were pretty pitiful. While I was in the balcony, the venue was so small, I think my recording should have been much better. While UFO sounded better (surprise, surprise, a headliner sounding better than the opening act!), it should have sounded a lot better. Still, this is a fairly early JUDAS PRIEST US tour, and most of the songs they no longer perform, save "Hell Bent For Leather" and "The Green Manalishi". Hopefully some of you PRIEST fans will like it. It's certainly listenable.
