SWALLOWS evolved from the chance meeting of four musicians with various musical influences and experiences. At the end of 1991, chanteur, on returning to Paris after two years in London, Harvey Bandit, singer, met drummer Robin Martinelli and guitarist Paul Christian. Bass guitarist Adrian Lanes joined them in september 1994. Sampled keyboard makes up the fifth instrumental layer. SWALLOWS style evolved from the current "American Rock", "Heavy Rock" or "AOR". The group describe their music simply : it is what they like to listen to. In other words enjoyment is the most important aspect of their music. Their lyrics reflect this expressive freedom covering a wide range of themes from Formula one racing to video games to child prostitution in south Asia. The group has progressed slowly but surely. Their first demo CD "848" was given a warm public reception in 1993. After many live appearances in France, Italy and Ireland and the making of their first video "Call my name", the foursome have launched themselves into the production of "In trance"; an impressive first album released in September 1996 on the BRENNUS record label. This CD demonstrates the maturity of the band, the creation of a melodic yet powerful style, a mixture of acoustic and incisive sounds, an atmosphere difficult to ignore.
