Newport News hard rockers Dirty Mary will soon release a second self-produced tape. The 11-song collection titled "Take The Blame," was recorded at Norfolk's Rubber Chicken Dynamics studio and includes the tracks "Throne," "One-way Ticket," and "Old Man." Dirty Mary singer Jody Dobson said that the group's first tape "Lincoln's Birthday," sold at least 100 copies. Look for the new release by late September.

The hard rock band, Dirty Mary was formed in Newport News, Va in 1994. Members included Jimmy Anderson on guitar, Dave Norris on bass, Jami Radford on drums and Jody Dobson on lead vocals. Within the first year together the band was playing clubs and released the album “Lincolns Birthday”. Year two came with more shows and another album “Take the Blame”. After three years and two releases and tons of shows, the band released what would be there last album “Alone in a Crowd”. This album also saw the addition of guitarist Annie Johnson, the signing of a record deal with Dominion Records and the changing of the bands name from Dirty Mary to Undertow. In true rock fashion, only months after inking there record deal the band broke up and went their separate ways. The members all remain friends to this day.

Now eighteen years later, with the beauty and curse that is Face book the founding members are in the works of two reunion shows for the fall of 2013. One in Virginia Beach the other in New York City.
