BOLT were a U.S. Hard Rock quintet formed in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., in the late 1970's.
Known for their wild stage show, they became a popular live act on the local circuit and recorded this excellent 4 song demo tape in 1978.
STARZ or MARCUS would be reasonably good points of musical comparison on the 1st couple of numbers, with some UFO moves flung in for good measure; big hard memorable riffs coupled with catchy sing-along choruses.
Third song, 'Fantasy Girl', changes the pace, getting all moody & reflective. Look out for the nice twin harmony guitars just before the pace picks up in the mid-section.
They then do the mellow intro thing (a-la 'Doctor, Doctor') on the closing track, 'Rocker', before getting down to hard-nosed business once again when the song kicks in properly.
The chorus goes 'I'm a rocker baybeeeee, 'til the day i diiiiie-aye!' Great stuff with lashings of incendiary kick arse guitar. What else would you expect from a song with that title?
Unfortunately, that was it for Bolt, as far as i know they left no further recordings and it was all over by mid-1979.
Bolt's singer/guitarist Ronnie 'Rono' Coleman would go on to form a power-trio called MAGNUM in September of that year, with whom he played into the early '80's.
Coleman then resurfaced in 1988 as a member of ARSEN, who would release the album 'Hi-Powered Luv' the following year.
